Grand Electric Cooperative is proud to participate in the “This is Co-op Country” Road Trip Map project, highlighting some of the destinations, history, and outdoor experiences that make northwest South Dakota a unique place to live, work, and explore.
Founded in 1950, Grand Electric Cooperative serves communities across northwest South Dakota. In 2025, the cooperative celebrated its 75th anniversary. Local farmers and ranchers helped bring electricity to the region by contributing higher monthly member payments to strengthen the cooperative’s application through the Rural Electrification Administration (REA).
The featured destinations selected showcase the natural beauty, history, and community spirit found throughout its service territory.
